CBNA (MONI) MENTOR PROGRAM

BECOMING A CBNA (MONI) MENTOR

The Columbus Ohio Chapter of the National Black Nurses Association (CBNA) is a non-profit professional organization of registered nurses, licensed practical/vocational nurses, and nursing students who contribute to improving the quality of life of persons who share the African American heritage and other ethnic groups.

Mentoring of Ohio Nurses Institute (MONI) is the first mentoring program of the Columbus Black Nurses Association. It is a non-profit organization, comprised of caring and dedicated volunteer African American nurses, who believe in uniting to share and give back to the community their time, talents, and skills to eliminate the healthcare disparities that effect African Americans and other minority communities.

To assist students to successfully enter and graduate from nursing school.  Mentors assist community members to become aware of the healthcare disparities that affect the minority communities, aware of the need for minority nurses, and to ignite the interest of diverse communities to join the field of nursing.

General meetings are held monthly on the 1st Thursday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm EST via Zoom. Anyone interested in learning more about membership, mentoring, or being mentored are welcome to join.

  • CBNA OBJECTIVES:

  • Act as change agent for institutional & legislative equity 

  • Extend educational support and mentoring services for aspiring & various active levels of nursing 

  • Actively recruit, counsel and assist Black persons interested in nursing  

  • Help sustain continuity of resources & unification of Black nurses throughout all demographics in the nursing industry
